The Petition of Several Gentlemen of the Clergy who have
officiated in the absence of Mr Gabriel D'Emiliane late Rector
of Christ's Church parish in Calvert County

And the Petition of Ann D'Emiliane his Widow being read
setting forth that whereas her late Husband had the leave of
this Board & also of the Church Wardens and Vestry of his
Parish to go for England on promise of some other Clergy-
man to officiate in his Absence Which has been complyed
with. And It now being supposed that he is shipwrecked

She humbly prays that for the Relief of her & his three Chil-
dren the 40lb tobo p poll arising in that Parish should be
payed her

Which being thought reasonable Ordered that the Sherriff
of Calvert County pay unto the sd Mr Emilianes Administra-

trix the whole 40 lb tobo arising in that Parish this year for
the better Support and relief of the sd Mr D'Emilianes Widow
& Children the sd Parish not being adjudged to be Vacant
before this Instant.

"La pétition de plusieurs gentlemen du clergé qui ont officié en l'absence de M. Gabriel D'Emiliane, feu le ministre de la paroisse de Christ Church dans Calvert County.
"Et la pétition d'Ann D'Emiliane, sa veuve, attendu que son défunt mari eut la permission de ce conseil, et aussi des marguilliers et des fabriciens de sa paroisse, d'aller en Angleterre sur la promesse de quelques autres pasteurs d'officier en son absence. Ce qui a été fait en conformité.
"Et maintenant on suppose qu'il a fait naufrage.
"Pour son secours et celui de ses trois enfants [dont Elizabeth, née le 8 janvier 1705, et Gabriel, né le 25 décembre 1705], elle prie humblement que la taxe sur les quarante livres de tabac provenantes de cette paroisse lui soit payée à elle.
"[Cette demande] ayant paru raisonnable, il a été ordonné [par le conseil] au shérif de Calvert County de payer [la taxe de cette année-ci] à ladite curatrice de M. Emiliane [...] ladite paroisse n'étant pas déclarée vacante [de ministre] avant cet instant.».
